According to the U.S. Green Building Council, buildings in the U.S. account for:

  • 36% of total energy use/65% of electricity consumption
  • 30% of greenhouse gas emissions
  • 30% of raw materials use
  • 30% of waste output/136 million tons annually
  • 12% of potable water consumption

Fortunately, green building—which aims to protect and improve the environment and lower operating costs in the long-run—is now so popular that it’s been said to be entering the mainstream. From Brad Pitt contributions in New Orleans to hit TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” green building is, indeed, becoming a new consumer consciousness.

What does green building have to do with roofing? Everything.

Roofing company Larry Haight’s Residential Roofing Co. proudly offers ENERGY STAR products—including skylights and roofing products—that protect the environment while saving customers money. One such product is the Solatube, or “miracle skylight,” which harnesses sunlight through a rooftop dome to naturally light any room. Larry Haight’s Residential Roofing Co. offers 10-inch and 14-inch Solatubes compatible with many other Seattle roofing products. The company has proudly served thousands of happy homeowners throughout Washington, including Redmond, Bellevue, Woodinville, Mill Creek, Sammamish, Issaquah, Seattle, Edmonds, Everett, Snohomish, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Mukilteo and the East Side.
